Welcome to Makai Yoga Collective. Makai Yoga Collective represents a ‘collection’ of teachers operating as sole traders providing a service to the community. Any mention of Makai Yoga Collective is making reference to the ‘collective of teachers’.

By accessing Makai Yoga Collective studio or website you agree to comply with and be bound by the following terms and conditions of use, which together with the privacy Policy, govern the Makai Yoga Collective’s relationship with you in relation to the website and studio.  We reserve the right to update, change or replace any part of these Terms and Conditions at any time.

Waiver of liability

By visiting or practicing with Makai Yoga Collective : (In-Studio and/or On-Line), you agree to the following:

I understand that Makai Yoga Collective of teachers will provide instruction and teaching of yoga, meditation and other body-mind practices. I understand the instructions are intended as guidance and may be physically and mentally strenuous.  I voluntarily participate with full knowledge that there is a risk of personal injury, distress, property loss/damage or death.

I also agree that neither I, nor my heirs, assigns or legal representatives will sue or make any other claims of any kind whatsoever against Makai Yoga Collective, or its directors, teachers, employees, contractors or its members for any personal injury, distress, damage/loss, or death, whether caused by negligence or otherwise.

By visiting or practicing with Makai Yoga Collective I voluntarily agree to the terms and conditions and this ‘waiver of liability’ and waive any claim that I might have at any time against Makai Yoga Collective Pty Ltd, its directors and employees.

General terms
  • Classes are subject to change or cancellation without notice.
  • Teachers are subject to change without notice.
  • Makai Yoga Collective is not liable to refund, transfer or offer compensation of any kind for classes that are late, changed or cancelled for any reason.
  • We kindly request that you arrive on time for class and encourage you to remain for the duration of the session.
  • We will endeavour to start and finish classes at the scheduled time
  • Makai Yoga Collective is not responsible for the safekeeping of your belongings.
  • Classes offered at Makai Yoga Collective may be physically strenuous and you voluntarily participate in them with full knowledge that there is risk of personal injury, property loss or death. Makai Yoga Collective is in no way liable for any injury, loss of property or death resulting from attending our studio or online studio offering.
  • The class passes and memberships exclude attendance at guest teachers’ workshops or other special events.
  • Makai Yoga Collective does not offer refunds on services or products for change of mind, injury, illness, change of address or any other reason. All purchases are final.
  • All prices, products and offers include GST.
  • All prices are correct at the time of online publication.
  • Prices may increase from time to time. Notice of any such increase will be provided on our website and by email to exisiting students.
Multi Class Pass
  • All five and ten class passes expire 6 months from the date of the first class that you attend after purchase. Extensions may be requested via email.
  • This pass allows you to attend 5 or 10 regularly scheduled classes, but excludes guest teacher workshops, or other special events.
  • No refunds are offered on unused portions of the Class Pass due to illness, injury, change of address or any other reason. Transfers or extensions may be negotiated in writing with the studio.
Intro Pass 
  • is valid for 14 days and cannot be extended.
  • allows you to attend unlimited regularly schedule classes, but excludes guest teacher workshops or other special events.
  • is activated from the date of your first booking.
3 Month Unlimited Passes
  • is valid for 3 months and cannot be extended.
  • it may be paused for 1 unbroken week.
  • allow you to attend unlimited regularly scheduled classes, but excludes guest teacher workshops, or other special events.
  • are activated from the date of your first booking.
Makai Monthly Membership
  • payment is deducted on the same date each month.
  • it may be paused for a minimum of 1 unbroken week at a time (request via email)
  • allow you to attend unlimited regularly scheduled classes, but excludes guest teacher workshops, or other special events.
  • can be canceled at any time if cancellation request is emailed a minimum of 1 week before your next payment date.
  • No refunds are offered on unused portions of the monthly pass.
Workshops & Events
  • Makai Yoga Collective does not offer refunds on workshops for change of mind, injury, illness, change of address or any other reason. All purchases are final.
  • If you cannot attend, you may transfer your workshop ticket into another person’s name by emailing us at studio@makaiyogacollective.com.au at least 24 hours before start of workshop or transfer to another workshop date if an event of equal value is available.
  • Full payment is required upon booking.
  • Please arrive at least 10 minutes before the scheduled start time of the workshop. Late entry to workshops will not be permitted.
  • In the event of a cancellation of an event due to Covid related government regulations or lockdown, a full refund will be provided.
Intellectual property
  • The content on our website belongs to us or to someone who has given us permission to use it. If you are using our website and its content for purposes other than personal or non-commercial reasons then you must get our written permission.

Privacy Policy

Makai Yoga Collective operates the Makai Yoga Collective website (the “Service”) which represents a collective of local ‘sole trader’ yoga teachers.

This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use and disclosure of Personal Information when you use our Service.

We will not use or share your information with anyone except as described in this Privacy Policy.

We use your Personal Information for providing and improving the Service. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

Information collection and use

While using our Service, we may ask you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information that can be used to contact or identify you. Personally identifiable information (“Personal Information”) may include, but is not limited to:

  • Email address
  • Telephone number

We collect information that your browser sends whenever you visit our Service (“Log Data”). This Log Data may include information such as your computer’s Internet Protocol (“IP”) address, browser type, browser version, the pages of our Service that you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages and other statistics.

The security of your Personal Information is important to us, but remember that no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

Our Service may contain links to other sites that are not operated by us. If you click on a third party link, you will be directed to that third party’s site. We strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy of every site you visit.

We have no control over, and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies or practices of any third party sites or services.

Children’s privacy

Our Service does not address anyone under the age of 18 (“Children”).

We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 18. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with Personal Information, please contact us. If we discover that a child under 18 has provided us with Personal Information, we will delete such information from our servers immediately.

Compliance with laws

We will disclose your Personal Information where required to do so by law or subpoena.

Changes to this privacy policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.

Covid 19 Policy

Makai Yoga Collective are committed to staying up to date with current government guidelines to ensure the health and safety of our community. We appreciate your support and understanding as we continue to navigate the ever changing requirements.

Under the current regulations, as outlined by the Victorian Government, Department of Health and WorkSafe Victoria, the following studio policies & procedures and in place:

  • Regular cleaning of the studio and the sanitising of high traffic areas at the beginning and end of each class.
  • Capping our regular classes at 12 students, plus instructor, to allow for social distancing and minimising movement around the room.
  • Maximising air flow by opening our studio front doors and utilising the fan throughout class.
  • Thorough cleaning of all props & mats between classes.

When attending IN Studio classes:

  • Only attend in studio classes if you are well ~ exhibiting no cold or flu like symptoms (however mild)
  • If you are awaiting Covid test results or have been a close contact of someone who is a positive case, do not attend in studio classes until you have been given the all clear.
  • We continue to encourage you to sanitise your hands upon entry.
  • Maintain social distancing where possible.
  • Whilst props & mats are available, we encourage you to bring your own equipment to class.

Makai Retreat

On receipt of cleared payment or deposit of retreat fare a binding contract shall be deemed to exist between the guest(s) and Makai Yoga, and that you agree to the following terms and conditions:

  • To secure your place, a $500 non refundable deposit is required, with the balance owing 2 months (60 days) prior to the start date of the retreat (June 26, 2023)

The following cancellation fees apply:

  • if cancellation is made in writing more than 60 days before the retreat date, you forfeit the deposit of $500.
  • If cancellation is made less than 60 days before the retreat date you will forfeit 50% of the total retreat cost.
  • If you cancel less than 14 days before the retreat date you will forfeit your entire payment.
  • Transfers to another person may be possible, less an admin fee of $150.
  • Exceptions to our policy cannot be made for any reason, this is why it is imperative to get travel insurance as soon as you have paid the deposit. Please make sure that natural disasters and personal injuries are covered. We do not offer credit for arriving late or leaving early.

In the event that the retreat is canceled or changes made to the scheduled retreat date for any reason, you will receive a refund of your payments to us, less an admin fee.

  • Makai Yoga is not responsible for any expenses incurred in preparation for any cancelled retreat, such as airline tickets, loss of work, and/or other costs associated with preparation for your trip.
  • The retreat cost includes accommodation, some meals and further details as specified in the retreat description. Flights, transfers and additional travel costs are not included. It is the responsibility of the retreat participants to ensure they have a valid passport and relevant visas.
  • On entering a contract with Makai Yoga, you acknowledge that the nature of the retreat is adventurous and participation involves a degree of personal risk. It is also your own responsibility to acquaint yourself with all possible relevant travel information and the nature of your itinerary. You acknowledge that your decision to travel is made in light of consideration of this information and you accept that you are aware of the personal risks attendant upon such travel.
  • The minimum age for attendees is 18, unless agreed otherwise. If applicable, it is your responsibility to ensure that you obtain proper and detailed medical advice at least two months prior to travel for the latest health requirements and recommendations for your destination.
